Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 22, 2026 · Last updated: August 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Family Inventory LLC (“Family Inventory,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use familyinventory.com, the Family Inventory web application, and Family Inventory mobile applications, including the Android application (collectively, the “Service”).

Family Inventory is designed to help families preserve heirlooms, recipes, memories, photos, recordings, and related stories in private households.

A. Account information

We collect information used to create and maintain your account, such as:

  • Display name
  • Email address
  • Account identifier
  • Email-confirmation and account-security information
  • Password-related authentication information

Passwords are handled through our authentication provider. Family Inventory does not have access to your plaintext password.

B. Household and membership information

We collect information about households and access permissions, including:

  • Household name
  • Household identifier
  • Household creator
  • Household Manager, Contributor, or Viewer role
  • Membership dates

C. Household content

Users may submit:

  • Room names
  • Photos
  • Voice recordings
  • Videos
  • Titles and descriptions
  • Information about family members or other people

Household content may contain personal or sensitive information selected by users.

D. Billing and subscription information

When a household uses a paid plan, we may receive and store:

  • Stripe customer and subscription identifiers
  • Product and price identifiers
  • Plan and billing interval
  • Subscription status
  • Renewal and cancellation information
  • Payment-success or payment-failure status
  • Limited transaction and invoice information

Stripe processes payment-card details. Family Inventory does not store full payment-card numbers or card security codes.

E. Support and deletion-request information

When you contact support or request account or household deletion, we may collect:

  • Your email address
  • User and household identifiers
  • Household role
  • Request type
  • Request reference
  • Optional message
  • Request and response dates
  • Information needed to verify and complete the request

F. Device permissions and media access (mobile apps)

When you choose to take a photo, record a voice memo, or record a video in the Family Inventory mobile application, the app may request access to your device camera and/or microphone.

These permissions are used only to provide the media-capture feature you intentionally start. Family Inventory does not use the camera or microphone to record in the background.

When you choose an existing photo or other media item from your device, Family Inventory receives only the item you select. The app does not browse or collect your broader photo library.

Captured or selected media is stored as household content as described in this policy.

G. Technical information

When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser and device type
  • Operating system
  • Request timestamps
  • Authentication and security events
  • Error and diagnostic information
  • Network and server logs

H. Cookies and local storage

Family Inventory uses browser storage and similar essential technologies to:

  • Keep users signed in
  • Maintain secure sessions
  • Remember the active household
  • Preserve necessary app preferences
  • Protect the Service

Family Inventory does not currently use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral advertising trackers.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and secure accounts
  • Authenticate users
  • Create and manage households
  • Send and process invitations
  • Enforce household roles and permissions
  • Store and display household content
  • Process subscriptions and billing
  • Provide customer support
  • Process deletion requests
  • Send account, security, invitation, support, and billing messages
  • Send occasional promotional or product-related emails
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, and security incidents
  • Diagnose errors and maintain the Service
  • Enforce our Terms
  • Comply with law
  • Improve usability, reliability, and features

We do not use household photos, recordings, videos, recipes, memories, or stories to train public artificial-intelligence models.

3. Household sharing

Household content is shared with members of the household according to their assigned role.

Owners control invitations and role assignments.

Editors may add, edit, or delete content as permitted by the Service.

Viewers may view content.

Users should only invite people they trust.

If a person is removed from a household, their future access ends, but content they previously added may remain part of the household.

Family Inventory does not make household content public by default.

4. How we share information

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

A. With household members

We share household content and membership information with authorized members according to their roles.

B. With service providers

We use providers that help with:

  • Authentication
  • Database services
  • File and media storage
  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Email delivery
  • Payment processing
  • Security, diagnostics, and technical operations

Current key providers include Supabase, Stripe, and Resend.

Providers may process information only as needed to perform services for Family Inventory and subject to their own contractual and legal obligations.

C. For legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request
  • Protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Family Inventory, providers, or the public
  • Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • Enforce our Terms
  • Establish or defend legal claims

D. Business transfers

If Family Inventory is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

E. With your direction

We may share information when you request or authorize us to do so.

5. No sale or targeted advertising

Family Inventory does not sell personal information.

Family Inventory does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use household content to target third-party advertisements.

Family Inventory does not operate an advertising network.

6. Email communications

We may send transactional or relationship emails concerning:

  • Account confirmation
  • Password resets
  • Email changes
  • Security notifications
  • Household invitations
  • Subscription and billing activity
  • Support and deletion requests
  • Material Service or policy changes

These messages are necessary to operate the Service, and users may continue receiving them while maintaining an account.

We may also send occasional promotional or product-related emails, including information about paid plans or new features.

Promotional emails will provide a way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing from promotional emails does not stop necessary account, security, billing, invitation, or service messages.

7. Data retention

We retain account information while an account is active and as reasonably needed to operate the Service.

Our current policy is to retain household content after a paid subscription ends so that a household may return and restore access.

Cancellation alone does not automatically delete household content.

We may retain information longer when needed for:

  • Security
  • Fraud prevention
  • Billing, accounting, and taxes
  • Legal obligations
  • Dispute resolution
  • Enforcement of agreements

When an authorized account or household deletion request is completed, we remove applicable information from active systems, subject to:

  • Temporary backup retention
  • Security and diagnostic logs
  • Billing and legal records
  • Information we are legally permitted or required to retain

Deletion requests are generally completed within 5–10 business days.

We may revise retention practices prospectively and will provide reasonable notice of material changes.

8. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.

These measures include access controls, authenticated household permissions, restricted storage, and trusted service providers.

Information transmitted between users, Family Inventory, and our service providers is sent over encrypted connections using HTTPS/TLS.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security or that information will never be lost, altered, or accessed without authorization.

Users are responsible for protecting their passwords, devices, email accounts, and household invitations.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information, including the right to:

  • Access information
  • Correct information
  • Delete information
  • Receive information about collection or sharing
  • Object to or limit certain uses
  • Appeal a denied privacy request
  • Use an authorized agent where permitted

Family Inventory provides in-app methods to update certain profile information and request account or household deletion.

Privacy requests may be sent to support@familyinventory.com.

We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request.

We will not discriminate against a user for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Because Family Inventory does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is no sale or targeted-advertising opt-out currently required within the Service.

10. Information about other people

Users may upload information about relatives, friends, children, or other people.

The user submitting that information is responsible for having an appropriate right, relationship, permission, or other lawful basis to provide and share it with household members.

Family Inventory does not independently verify family relationships or consent from people described in User Content.

11. Children’s privacy

Family Inventory accounts are intended for adults aged 18 and older.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Adults may choose to include family photos, stories, or other content involving children. The adult submitting that content is responsible for having appropriate authority or permission.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or directly submitted personal information, contact support@familyinventory.com.

We will review the request and take appropriate action.

12. International processing

Family Inventory and its service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries.

Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where a user lives.

When legally required, we will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

13. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to third-party websites or services, including Stripe-hosted billing pages.

Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Family Inventory is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or applicable requirements change.

The policy will display a revised “Last updated” date.

For material changes, we may provide additional notice through the Service or by email.
